On June 12, 2026, the US Commerce Department issued an export control directive on national security grounds, ordering Anthropic to immediately halt foreign-national access to its Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 models. In response, Anthropic temporarily disabled both models for all customers. Other Claude models were unaffected.
