A SpaceX acquisition of Cursor AI, and a plan to ship a jointly trained new model to both Cursor and xAI's terminal-based coding agent Grok Build "within weeks," have come into focus. xAI released Grok Build as an early beta in mid-May 2026, and the acquisition and joint-training move is positioned to further accelerate its developer-tooling strategy.
