According to reporting based on what are described as Microsoft internal documents, OpenAI's spending on running models (inference) on Azure reached roughly $3.767 billion in calendar 2024 and about $8.67 billion in the first nine months of 2025, a level said to exceed the revenue estimated for the same period.
