European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde warned that artificial intelligence (AI) could threaten financial stability and trigger dangerous financial crises, and signaled the ECB's determination to prevent that. Speaking in Venice, Lagarde said that while the development of AI cannot be stopped, the bank will prepare so that citizens reap its benefits while being protected from its dangers, stressing a strategy of heading off risks through banking supervision and stronger cyber resilience.
