Utah has launched the first U.S. pilot program allowing AI chatbots to autonomously process prescription refills for patients with chronic conditions. While the state formally announced the partnership on Jan. 6, 2026, physician groups have pushed back strongly over patient-safety concerns and are demanding the program be halted.
