Anthropic Halts Two New Models After US Order on Foreign Access

The Trump administration directed Anthropic PBC to deny foreign access to its latest AI models, and the company immediately halted access to Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 for all users around June 13, 2026. The government order covers foreign individuals, companies and governments, including foreign nationals residing in the US, and Anthropic complied by simultaneously suspending both models. The company's official statement did not disclose the specifics of the government's concerns, and said access to other models such as Opus 4.8 was not affected.
