Databricks has added proactive budget alerts and a spending control feature called AI Spend Controls to its Unity AI Gateway, aiming to prevent unpredictable, high-dollar bills generated by AI agents. The feature was announced on the company's blog on May 19, 2026 and is currently in beta. It allows budgets to be set per user, per workspace, per use case, and across an entire account, with proactive alerts that notify before thresholds are reached. The beta also supports hard budget limits with enforcement in some cases.
