Linux Foundation launches Akrites to tackle AI-era open source flaws

The Linux Foundation on June 25, 2026 formally launched Akrites, an industry-wide effort to counter AI-accelerated threats against open source software (OSS). The initiative coordinates the discovery, fixing and disclosure of vulnerabilities in critical OSS, with founding members including NVIDIA, Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft and GitHub, OpenAI, Anthropic, IBM, Red Hat, Cisco, Citi and JPMorganChase, among many others.
