Meta said on June 22 that it is pausing "Model Capability Initiative" (MCI), an internal tool that records how US employees operate their work computers to train AI, after an internal security problem made some of the collected data accessible to more people than intended. A Meta spokesperson said the company "carefully designed privacy protections" and that "there is currently no indication of improper access by Meta employees, but it is pausing the tool to investigate," according to Wired.
