US Orders Anthropic to Cut Foreign Access to Top AI Models; G7 Leaders Voice Alarm

The Trump administration, through an export-control directive, ordered Anthropic to suspend foreign-national access to its newest frontier models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, prompting the company to temporarily disable both models for all customers worldwide to ensure compliance. Citing national security concerns, the measure covered foreign nationals inside the US as well as Anthropic's own non-US employees. According to news reports, the company received the order on a Friday evening and, unable to set up real-time nationality checks, abruptly shut the models off for all customers.
