Waymo, the Alphabet-owned self-driving company, has recalled 3,871 robotaxis in the United States equipped with its fifth-generation Automated Driving System (ADS). The recall stems from a software defect that could leave the vehicles unable to recognize closed construction zones on freeways and drive into them at speed, and was filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
