US Orders Immediate Foreign-Access Halt to Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5

In June 2026, the US Commerce Department issued an emergency export-control directive ordering Anthropic to immediately cut off foreign nationals' access to its most advanced models, "Claude Fable 5" and "Mythos 5," and Anthropic disabled both models for all users, domestic and abroad. The action was taken under national security authorities, and other Claude models were said to be unaffected.
