US Orders Anthropic to Block Foreign Access to Its Newest AI Models

The US Commerce Department on June 12, 2026, directed Anthropic PBC to fully halt foreign-national access to its newest AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, citing national security concerns. Later that night, Anthropic said it had immediately disabled access to both models for all customers to comply.
