China is considering building a mechanism to assess in advance the impact of AI (artificial intelligence) deployment on employment. The proposal, put forward by Ma Yide, a deputy to the National People's Congress, at the 2026 "Two Sessions," envisions institutionalizing pre-deployment evaluation and process monitoring of large-scale AI rollouts, modeled on the environmental impact assessment (EIA).
